We have reached an epoch in which humanity is more developed than ever before.
As we head towards a planet of 9 billion people, we need to make drastic changes. TEDxSurreyUniversity: Over The Edge aims to open a discussion about the future of humanity. We will challenge traditional ways of operating, explore the possibilities of technology and find new ways to communicate in order to find local solutions to global problems. With a variety of speakers from all vocations and backgrounds, we aim to overcome problems of the future by learning from their experiences of conquering previous challenges.
True-crime author and public speaker Shaun Attwood is a Guildford-based true-crime author and public speaker, who is banned from America for life. National Geographic Channel featured his story of incarceration in Arizona as an episode of Banged-Up Abroad. Shaun does over 100 talks a year about the consequences of drugs and crime while also campaigning for human rights. “Shaun's story is the Manchester rave scene meets The Wolf of Wall Street and ends in The Shawshank Redemption” - Jo Ronson.
Entrepreneur Kevin Patrick is a 23 year award winning entrepreneur who was Barclays Youngest Entrepreneur aged 14. Having set up a company whilst at school through the Young Enterprise project, Kevin sold his company last year which was supplying major brands such as Samsung, Microsoft and Mercedes. Kevin also co founded the sports brand Legacy Sportswear which has been wore by many of the Olympic GB team including Audley Harrison MBE and Karina Bryant.
CEO of Oakleaf Charity Since 1997, CEO Clive Stone has led and supported Oakleaf Enterprise, an independent mental health charity and social enterprise based in Guildford. Prior to Clive commencing his role at Oakleaf he had managed his mental health problems on his own, with the support of his wife for many years but like many, was reluctant to discuss these in the public forum. After discovering the excellent work of organisations like Oakleaf he grew determined to make a change
